I joined Tesco Underwriting in 2012 with no insurance experience at all. My first role was in the Motor Claims Negotiator which deals with the accidents after they are reported. This department deals with a range of things from customers, theft or fires, credit hire and litigation. I really enjoyed this role as I felt a lot of satisfaction from actually helping customers. During this time I learnt a lot from my colleagues and team leaders but after two years I applied for a position within the Personal Injury Department. This was a huge step due to the lack of technical knowledge but after spending time within the department, the support available and after being successful at the interview the training programme helped me feel ready for my new role.
Since then I have recently just completed a secondment as Motor Claims Team Leader, there are always other projects that you can get involved in or internal positions coming up to help widen your knowledge or experience.
There is always a great atmosphere at TU, the people that work here are lovely and they do a lot to engage their employees such as charity events, fun days or even sweet treats around the office. I really believe TU is a great place to work and I would recommend it to my friends or family
